This level of support enables Avnet Embedded to customise a large range of monitor and SBC products to meet your exacting requirements.
Avnet Embedded can also provide technical assistance to customers building Windows® CE and XP Embedded images.
SBC Customisation
This includes the removal of unwanted connectors, the installation of custom BIOS and splash screens as well as the ability to add memory and compact flash technologies. The design of custom daughter boards can be adapted to bring out extra I/O or features and Avnet Embedded also has the capability to clone hard disk drives or compact flash cards. A full kit or system test is available in-house before the product is shipped.
System-on-module
SOMs (System-On-Module) are component-like system boards with complete PC functionality that plug onto application specific baseboards through high-density, low profile, surfacemount connectors. The surface-mount connectors carry both ISA and PCI bus signals as well as dedicated I/O interfaces.
A wide selection of CPU processors offers flexibility and scalability. SOM core modules are interchangeable as long as they provide the same features. They work like a highly integrated chip, inter facing directly to any form factor system board containing application specific logic and I/O connectors. For example, customers can easily upgrade a system by replacing the system module with one that has a faster CPU.
