Avnet Embedded offers a range of professional grade monitors which are designed for 24 x 7 operation as Public Information Displays (PID). These monitors are designed for long life and MTB of 50,000 hours. Energy saving controls are designed in, while active ambient light sensors automatically adjust the monitor ’s brightness to actual light levels. This feature saves energy and optimises the image at the same time.

Aside from the retail signage environment, typical uses of PID include airports as well as bus and train stations. In these environments, viewers need to be able to read detailed information from a distance, requiring monitors in various sizes. An innovative design feature of ChiLin monitors is the IPC Backpack, which has space reserved to integrate a small form factor digital signage player or PC. This presents AV technicians with an easy installation option along with connectivity to the various inputs, such as VGA, DVI, HDMI, S-video, component video and RS232.

These monitors are also available in open-frame to allow easy integration into other external housing, for example in an outdoor cabinet to be used in a bus / train shelter. Integrated optical touchscreens are optional on several monitors and are certified for Windows® 7 multi touch.
