Camelot
For its next generation of scratchcard dispensers, the UK lottery operator Camelot required an innovative construction that would help it maximise advertising opportunities. Avnet Embedded designed and developed this unique 12.1” digital signage monitor for Camelot.
The design of the screen incorporated a customised ultra thin front bezel to increase the space available for advertising. Today, 29,800 scratchcard dispensers with the Avnet Embedded screen have been installed across the UK in supermarkets, newsagents, and forecourts, replacing all existing dispensers.
DIAGEO
Johnnie Walker required a smart solution for increasing sales and attention in the global travel retail market. The design should fit in an existing environment without any technical installations and most importantly it should look very close to the real product. The unit was designed according to all branding rules received from Diageo. The final product was identical in size as two 1 litre bottle packs of Johnnie Walker with a integrated 5,6" LCD display with media player and locking device.
Diageo is the world’s leading premium drinks business with an outstanding collection of beverage alcohol brands across spirits, wine and beer categories. These brands include: Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Captain Morgan, Baileys, J&B and Bushmills Irish whiskey.
Mobitec
Mobitec is a leading supplier of internal and external signage for buses. To help meet the increased demand for internal signage systems on buses, Avnet Embedded was selected to develop a 19” wide TFT based solution. After evaluating Mobitec’s requirements, an SBC platform and 19” TFT display were specified. These products were chosen based on various criteria which included the need for only minor modifications and a high brightness display with excellent contrast. Backward compatibility to existing Mobitec systems in the market was also required.
To facilitate this, Avnet Embedded worked with an ODM partner to design the units so that Mobitec could integrate its own communication board if required. Up to five displays are needed within a bus installation, and to maintain a cost effective solution for Mobitec , a slave monitor with an identical mechanical design was developed. This ensured that only one master in each bus was required, and could drive all slaves with the custom designed scaler board functionality. These display terminals are currently being installed in buses worldwide.
